We totally, totally bought a mattress. I’ve never bought a mattress before. Is it supposed to smell like salon chemicals? Yowzah.
I slept really well last night – either because I was super comfy, or maybe because my senses were gently lulled to sleep by lack of unsullied oxygen… again I say, whatever gets me to sleep, man!
Theories are confirmed, I definitely sleep better when I have a good twenty-seven inches to myself. :P
Last night we went mad karaokeing – we were the mad karaokiers. We sang a slew of songs, each one of us, and had a ball. I don’t remember the last time I had that much fun singing karaoke. In Youngstown we were pretty used to having to wait forever to sing because they’d intersperse karaoke singers with DJ-selected tracks. This place had a regular six or seven of us rotated all night, with the occasional new addition. I can’t remember the name of the guy or the company, but we’re going back, no doubt about it.
It was smoky – I was totally ill off the smoke by the end of the night – but honestly, if I don’t do it often, I’ll survive. Also, my voice isn’t gone this morning like I expected, and that’s a plus (snort!). My shoes didn’t hurt me because we sat when we weren’t singing, and I sang as many excellent songs as I sang botchy songs. So I’m happy.
Marty sang the most excellent Boy Named Sue EVAR… and he bashed the living shit out of Asshole by Dennis Leary, which is exactly the way it oughtta be done. It was incredibly entertaining. Angel sang a bunch of great songs (I didn’t really know most of them that well) and sounded SO GREAT - I’d never heard her sing karaoke before, she’s so excellent! She had the patrons scraping and sighing over her, fabulous and fabulous. Also, she bought us drinks (to the ouchiness of her pocketbook, hello expensive drinks!), for which we were appropriately grateful. Angel rocks.
I have an alarming amount of work to do today and tomorrow and I am thinking (oboy) Saturday and maybe Sunday and then probably Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday as well. Tomorrow morning I am going to make another string of phone calls to Wales, to cement a few more items for the fall competition. All kinds of things to get done, and I am definitely putting a dent in the batch of them. But first, I think some breakfast is in order… my tummy’s hungry.
I love you all! Smooches!
