Man, where do I start?
Furniture, right. Heather came over Thursday night to take me cheap furniture shopping, but it turned out we didn’t even have to, because two Craigslist contacts worked out in one day. From one, we picked up three chairs—two beautiful red ones and a slightly wobblier brown one, for $25. They’re older, but perfectly usable, and we might even be able to tighten some screws and make them better. And the other, we visited to look at their couch, which they were selling for $50. No back cushions and dramatically faded upholstery from being in a sunroom for years, but clean, pet-free, smoke-free, everything-free. And he was willing to deliver it to us in his truck! I’d been afraid we’d never have a couch unless we wanted to rent another U-Haul. And this couch, in the picture it looked like a little loveseat, with two cushions. Well, the number of cushions was right, but the couch is HUGE~! I was shocked at how big it was. And Friday night, this dude brought it to our apartment, even helped Marty get it up the stairs. His name was Manuel, his family was so sweet… I wanted to make friends so badly but also didn’t want to freak him out. (Creepy Craigslist chick…) But the couch is here and is comfortable even without back cushions or pillows to replace them with. I’m sure we will get pillows eventually… but it’s like we have a real living room now, and a table and chairs in the dining room. Now if we can just get all this laundry done…
It feels funny and wonderful to me that both items were nearby, and within minutes of each other… Both were mostly red—one with a brown chair, one with faded red upholstery—and both were so easy to finalize. It was just time for it to happen, I guess.
Today I need to work out some details for the International Eisteddfod. And I’m going to go order Harri Potter a Maen yr Athronydd. Ha. :}
