Perhaps feeling betrayed by the integrity of my body (and everyone else’s), last night I dreamt my flesh was breaking open, and I must hold it shut with my hands. Many times I told myself that I was hallucinating, but I was unwilling to take my hands away. Firm conviction of hallucination does not make a thing less real.

Last night I dreamt that I was taking pictures of three of my cousins with the most wonderful, delicious camera. It was seriously SLR, heavy and bulky and black, and had numerous buttons and switches. I was a little nervous handling it, but it was going to take gorgeous photos. I had a bit of a hard time convincing everyone to humor me while I took a good picture, instead of a couple of your usual, run-of-the-mill snapshots… Not with that camera!
