I guess Seth sees and alchemist moment here – you have come to ask a treasure of Seer – who sees the treasure right in your backyard. Will you get it? Do you know it? I guess by now you do!

Sometimes a child finds a weapon – and does not know of its power. You have awesome power aligning with you. What are you going to do with it?

I know it sounds weird, probably condescending (hope not – not meant to be). Because I am learning a lot from your application process. And I have learnt a lot – about you and about my own self. Thank you for being my co-student in the process.

Oh Megan. At least you made it a step further than so many others. I’m sure the energy in the room planted many seeds that will florish into fantastic ideas. If I can help, please do not hesitate to ask (a fellow Triiibes Member).

I agree with Becky & Juliet. I think Seth wanted good contenders to be Leaders. You already are one!

Oh Megan, I’m sorry you weren’t picked too – but like Juliet – I’m not surprised either. I think Seth has a definite idea about what/who leaders are and you’re among those that are leaders, who are kick-ass. If I’m over-qualified, damn…I hate to think how super-uber-undenialably over-qualified YOU are! Geesh!! Your blogging. vlogging, writing and technical skills….wow. You’re the complete package girl. But we’re hoping to have you in the alternative alternative group – okay? See you there! Get some sleep!

I’m sorry that you didn’t get picked, but not surprised. The folks Seth didn’t pick seem to have been goaded into doing something spectacular on their own. It’s as if he’s given you all wings by NOT picking you, and having you work for him. Becky’s RV plan is spectacular, and I KNOW yours is going to just splendid, too!!

Joel—I get what you’re saying, there’s a funny place there that I don’t quite understand yet. On one hand, there are many people that want to act and only need to be asked; on the other hand, many people are sensitive to this whole issue, and it’s difficult to know where the best action lies unless you know your audience incredibly well. Man, I’m learnin’, though! And I will have to decide how to navigate this discomfort eventually, and decide where I stand. It’s definitely something I’m still thinking through (a lot).

There is a line between expressing a need to people who care, and asking for something.

If someone I care about says “I need to go shopping, but my car’s not running.” I have a choice: offer to take them, or not. They haven’t made me uncomfortable by asking, and making me say ‘No’ either tacitly or explicitly.

But when someone, unless they’re really close to me, asks point blank “Can you take me to the store?” I’m uncomfortable. No way around it, I’m uncomfortable. It may just be me.

So, mention your needs. Describe your position. Be clear and detailed. I’m not at all bothered by you saying something like “I’m going to have to earn $X,XXX to go to this thing.” I’d be miffed, to say the least, if you added “Will you give me $XX toward that?”

And, in the interests of full disclosure and because you brought it up :) I’m even a little uncomfortable with cries of “Hire me, hire me!” even though it’s a far cry (yes, I meant that) from pleas for donations.

You seem to be pretty open and forthright (or an excellent actress. Or both.) Just say what you really mean in a way that makes you comfortable, and you’ll be fine.
