This is so exciting! This video is of Gwawr Edwards, who (I am told) won the Blue Riband at the National Eisteddfod for 2007, in August. David Williams had mentioned her to me and I had just now gotten around to searching her out, and oh! The awesomeness!
Even more than that, the aria she sings in this clip taps right into my nostalgia cortex, because a friend in college—Holly, though I can’t remember her last name now—used to perform this for auditions and master classes. It always thrilled me when she sang it, and it’s thrilling to hear it now!
