The Peaceful Megan

Tonight we provided food, Vixen provided drinks, and over spinach pizza and Mexican martinis the three of us watched The Peaceful Warrior. It wasn’t what I expected. We talked about people and relationships and societal archetypes, and relaxed and near-dozed and decided to save Dangerous Beauty for another night.

We huddled under blankets on the couch until Marty got too warm, when he sat on top of the blanket, but at no point did any of us turn off the AC. I imagine this was most likely out of deference to the warm boy.

I like Scott Mechlowicz, and I adore Tim DeKay—to say nothing of Nick Nolte. I don’t know how I feel about the movie. It’s not a big deal. But it’s a good movie.

I realized how much I had missed these conversations, over the last several weeks, when the television gets paused and takes forever to start again. This talking makes me feel so grateful for friends. It makes me really, incredibly happy. And then, eventually, someone presses play. And then we’re sleepy, and we pick up our spoils of war (or chips and dip), and it’s time for bed.

I love people, and I love my life. Weird, huh?
